My name is Tomás, and I am the "director", of Visionary Productions. Visionary Productions is not any Hollywood company, nor is it licensed as a company, and nor is it directed by a media mogul. What it is is my imagination.
My video-editing days trace back to late 2006, when I, out of pure inspiration, and an overabundance of time on my hands, decided to compile a slide show for my biography assignment. It was an extremely rudimentary video by my standards now, and so were the few others that followed - we're talking no attention to fonts, color, no effects (at all), etc. It was rather bad. But that's how I got started. I continued to make documentaries and videos of other sorts for teachers, for projects, etc. I then upgraded to better software (yes, I did start out with WinXP's Windows Movie Maker; I now use Serif MoviePlus 5 and a host of other programs), I understood video making better, I learned to pay more attention to detail, etc.
The beautiful thing about videos is that anyone can do it. Video, of course, is a form of art. Its ability as far as accuracy and realism far surpasses that of music and fine art, but that is not the good thing about video. The good thing is that anyone can do it. Anyone with a camera and a creative, artistic mind can join in and make stellar productions. Music and fine art, perhaps, require a natural gift, and they are also beautiful, impeccable forms of artistic expression, and their power cannot be underestimated. It is trure that, nowadays, a Hollywood director is likely to earn more money than a freelance artist, but music and art represent the epitome of creativity and the inner mechanisms and thoughts of the artist's mind. Video is as expressive, and even though it requires a larger degree of technological know how, learning to use a PC, and later, video-editing apps isn't all that hard, especially for the "young'uns."
Nonetheless, the arts themselves represent culture, society, and the human race in an endless number of ways. I decided to take up video - you may like music or fine art more - but what remains constant is that we are all artists, working to ensure that our current generation and our own culture remain imprinted in the history of humanity as the future endlessly continues to approach.
